Installation

Treated wood for ground contact should never be notched, bored, drilled or crosscut for any reason. The treatment envelope protects the post from fungi & insect attack. In order to protect the timber during its life, this treatment envelope must not be broken and remain fully intact.

Treated wood must not be pointed after treatment.

Treated wood must never be crosscut, rip sawn, thicknessed, or planed. If this takes place, it must be returned to the treatment plant and retreated prior to use.

It is important to achieve good drainage away from the treated post once installed; this can be achieved by placing gravel or loose stones into the hole prior to installing the incised post.

If using a cement-based mix to fix posts in the ground, ensure that water can drain away from the foot of the post. Do not make a ‘boot’ that traps moisture which increase the risk of decay.

Treated wood must not be moved from its original installation and re-installed.

Treated wood must be given time to dry and return to its natural moisture content before being driven into the ground. ProPost should be bought in advance and stored for a period in the local environment its destined to be used in before it’s driven into the ground. It is recommended that ProPost be stored in a well-ventilated area prior to being installed.

Post supplied under the warranty scheme must be used for their intended use as agricultural fencing within 6 months of purchase.

Care must be taken to avoid damaging the treatment envelope during transport, storage and installation.

Care must be taken to avoid excessive strimming and the use of weed killers and agricultural slurry around the post.

Warranty Terms & Conditions:

1. This warranty only covers “Incised UC4” ProPosts and sleepers supplied by Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited.
2. To activate (register for) the 15-year warranty, go to www.woodfarmfencing.com, and click on “Register Warranty” where you will then be asked to upload proof of purchase (invoice) and other relevant information.
3. Registrations for the 15-year warranty must be received no later than 30 days from the date of invoice to validate any registration.
4. Upon registration with proof of purchase submitted, the claimant will be sent an email or postal confirmation with notification of registration to the warranty scheme registered on www.woodfarmfencing.com
5. The guarantee is for the cost of re-supply by Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited, of a component that is proven to have failed as a result of fungal decay or insect attack within 15 years of supply.
6. It does not cover the costs of removal or reinstatement of such components or consequential costs or loss due to failure of the component.
7. To submit a warranty claim you must: Contact  Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited at woodfarmfencing@hotmail.com within two weeks of 15 year expiry date to make the request and provide proof of the registered warranty, as per written confirmation sent to you at the time of online  warranty registration.
8. On submission of a claim under the warranty program to Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited, the customer shall provide Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited with the following:
   • A cross section of the timber (minimum 200mm length) exhibiting the product failure due to fungal decay or insect attack that is sufficient for testing.
   • Such other information as Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited may reasonably require such as access to the site of installation etc.
   • A photograph of the affected product in situ.
9. Woodfarm   will promptly investigate the complaint and establish the issues surrounding the claim before a final decision is made on product replacement.
10. The terms “rot” and “fungal decay” as used in this Guarantee mean attack by wood destroying fungi that disintegrate the wood cell walls.
11. “Weathering” of wood is not fungal decay or rot of any type or definition and is excluded.
12. The term ‘insect attack’ refers to attack by wood destroying insects that destroy the timber structure. Termite attack is not covered under this warranty. Termites are not currently active in Ireland.
13. The term ‘failed’ refers to damage caused by insects and/or fungi to render the component no longer fit for purpose.
14. Only “Incised UC4” ProPost that have been registered in the Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited warranty scheme and supplied by Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited are covered under this warranty. UC4 Posts are designed to be used in ground contact.
15. Users should refer to additional information in relation to warranty exclusions which are available at www.woodfarmfencing.com
16. The 15-year warranty is not transferable, and no alternative will be offered.
17. ProPost is treated in accordance with Irish standards requiring a minimum of 6mm penetration and a recommended preservative loading. Only ProPosts that achieve these results are covered under the warranty program.
18. This guarantee does not affect the statutory rights of the consumer.

 Exclusions:

This Warranty does not apply to:

1. Consequential Loss of any kind.
2. Accidental Damage or Subsidence.
3. Any fencing post/ProPost not registered under the Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited warranty program is not covered by this warranty.
4. Failure to follow installation recommendations listed on the Woodfarm Fencing Supplies Limited website.
5. Labour associated with removal and replacement of any warranted products.
6. Colour variation. (Wood is a natural product and colour variation will occur)
7. Any Woodfarm fencing Supplies Limited, ‘UC4 Incised’ ProPost supplied for use outside of European markets.
8. Removal of Incised timber from their original installation and re- used at a new location.
9. Building poles, commercial vineyard stakes or peeler core landscape timbers.
10. Damage caused by ‘weathering’ of wood, including but not limited to raised grain, splitting, cracking, twisting, warping, shrinkage, swelling or any other physical property of the wood, or where untreated material is exposed by the effects of this weathering.
11. Timber degrades which is the result of the natural movement of wood in service, including weathering, twisting and splitting of components.
12. A piece of treated timber that is cut, drilled or notched after preservation.
13. Fence posts where preservative penetration and/or loadings is consistently limited to less than 6mm or is effectively unachievable due to natural variations in the wood substrate and/or abnormal growth characteristics.
14. Mould growth on treated wood products.
15. Damage during transit or in storage.
